Train Cars Tour

The Kansas Belle Dinner Train currently operates four dining cars, all of which have their unique and distinct personalities. We received most of the cars as bare shells and have remodeled them to resemble railroad cars from the 1940’s era.

Marais des Cygnes River

Marais des Cygnes River was built in 1947 by the Pullman Standard Co. for the Illinois Central Railroad. It was later sold to the Rock Island Railroad and converted into a diner. The decor in the diner is very traditional and is kept as historically accurate as possible. Throughout the car, you will notice pictures and posters depicting rail travel of the years past. The capacity of this car is 42 seats, it has its own audio and video capabilities and possesses its own galley.

Maple Creek

Maple Creek is a 1942 production of Canadian National Railways and later VIA Rail (Canada's national intercity passenger train service.) It was remodeled in December of 1988, becoming the second car in the Fremont Dinner Train fleet. It was remodeled into a bar / dining car with a retention of its Canadian heritage still in evidence. The car has a seating capacity of 56 seats and is often used as our main theater and entertainment area.

Rose Creek

Rose Creek was built in 1947. After a thorough reconstruction, it joined our fleet by mid-February 1997. Formerly a coach car from Canadian National, it later saw service with VIA. It functions as one of our most used dining cars and is unique in our operation because of the divided sections highlighted by the etched glass. And for the ladies, the restroom facilities represent one of the unique features of the car. With the addition of our third car it added an additional 56 seats and a second galley.

Fontanelle

Fontanelle Springs is a former Canadian National and VIA Rail car (#765) from 1956. It was originally a café/lounge car, and now contains a small dining area and one of our kitchens (galleys).
